Convention Schedule
With the weekly awesomeness of the Alphabeasts project securely in the bag, I can now get back to completely neglecting this website and only posting once every eight months or so. But, before I slump off to lazy town, let me give you a quick rundown of where you can bump into me in the coming year (other than in line at the Five Guys four times a week).
Firstly, this Saturday I’ll be at my most favorite comics show in the whole universe, FLUKE in Athens, GA. I’ll be there with Rico Renzi, Bridgit Scheide and a few other Charlotte buddies. FLUKE is the damn best and I encourage all who are able to shuffle on down to the 40 Watt for some superior mini-comic fun.
Speaking of which, I’ll have a new mini-comic at the show called Death Pinata, a handful of my old, tiresome minis and some Animal Alphabet and Alphabeasts original artwork to try and pawn off on the dumb public.
A few weeks after FLUKE, you can catch me back in my home state of North Carolina at the Winston-Salem Toy and Comic Book Show hosted by Ssalefish Comics. I’ll be one of the “special guest artists” mentioned below. I’m really hoping special doesn’t just mean retarded for once. Thanks to the mighty beard of Adam Casey for the invite to this one.
So, then, on Saturday June 16th, I’ll hopefully be at the Sweet Union ‘Toonists 4th Annual Return of the Mini-Con in Indian Trail, NC. I was scheduled to be there last year as well but got really sick and had to cancel at the literal last minute. This year I’m gonna chug a buncha Robitussin and eat a whole orange to make sure I’m fit for the show. It’s a free show primarily aimed at kids and is usually held in one of the Gaston County public libraries. Exact details seem to still be pending as of this moment but I’ll update info as it comes in.
Right after the mini-con comes the major con, the best thing happening in my hometown all year, Heroes Con!! That’s 3 big days of me sitting on my ass trying to get dismissive nerds to choose me over Batman. It’s their 30th Anniversary show and, holy jeepers, there’s a truly insane guest list including Jaime Hernanadez and Dave Cooper!! So..uh…wow. Anyhow, June 22-24, be there, jerkface.
And then… after a long rest comes the show that’s kinda scaring my cartooning pants off me. For the first time ever I’ll be tabling at a show of legend, the Small Press Expo in Bethesda, Maryland. It’s always an amazing show but this year the guest list includes (gulp!) Dan freakin’ Clowes!!! Chris also freakin’ Ware!! And Jaime once again Hernandez!! Just the thought of being in a large convention space with those three puts me in a panic. I might just throw all my pens down a commode and weep “Game over man, game over…” into a soggy toilet paper roll.
Many of my fellow Alphabeasters should be in attendance at this show too including my local pals Rich Barrett and Tom Davidson with whom I’m tabling. So, if you’re an Alphabeasts fan, this is the place to show yer face.
And… that’ll finish me up for the year. Right now I’m putting on my Rob Liefield designed jacket and filling all the pockets with pens, erasers and bottles of ink. I’m lifting up my long reach stapler, grabbing a fist fulla mini-comics and looking convention season right in it’s filthy eye. Let’s do this, you son of a bitch.
